Reconciliation Action Plan

We believe in honouring the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who are the original custodians of our land.

The Discovery Garden is situated on Awabakal Land.

“Our commitment mirrors our values of respect for diversity, inclusion and advocating for the rights of all children.  It is our goal that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded throughout our service in a respectful and authentic way and that this is integrated in our being, belonging and becoming.”

(From a section in our Vision for Reconciliation, within our RAP – Reconciliation Action Plan)

Sustainability

We believe in respecting the environment by embedding sustainable practices that support children to understand that they are a part of nature and all its wonder. There is an abundance of natural components in our environment, particularly in the outdoors. This lends itself to meaningful discussions between our educators and learners, both through intentional teaching practices and spontaneously, taking responsibility for the environment both living and constructed. We have a dedicated team member who undertakes sustainable initiatives at the service.

Child Advocacy & Safety

We are committed to implementing the Child Safe Standards and continually aim to reflect on and improve our practices to better support our most vulnerable. All team members complete “In Safe Hands” training annually.
